There is something we all would like to accomplish or change in our lives. Whether it is replacing a bad habit with a good one or bettering ourselves in some sort of way. The best way to make a positive change in your life is by setting goals.
As you set goals you put in motion a plan that will ultimately lead to success. However, in our busy lives it can be difficult to achieve our goals because of all the distractions competing for your time.
It is critical to have your priorities straight when achieving goals. If you are planning on losing weight then you need to prioritize around that goal. You also need to know what types of things will distract you or get in your way of meeting your goal?
Each day you will be faced with choices; do you go for a walk as planned or watch TV because you feel tired? TV, internet, social networking, hanging out with friends, etc. can all be distractions that keep you from achieving your goals. Of course they are okay to do; however, they should not interfere with what you are trying to accomplish.
If you continue to give into distractions you will not see much progress and this could lead to giving up and that is the last thing that you want to do. Avoid distractions or better yet use the distractions that you enjoy as a reward for staying on task. For example, after your daily walk reward yourself with an hour of TV.
It is important to stay motivated and set goals that are measurable. If you feel yourself getting off track because of all the distractions it is time to refocus your efforts. Read your goals a couple times per day and imagine the end result. Feel the happiness that achieving your goal will bring. Each time you complete a goal you will become better at disciplining yourself and you will have the self-confidence you need to continue to succeed.
