- Read with your child at least a few minutes each day.
- Encourage your child to bring their favorite books to you so you can read them together.
- Point out and name pictures out load. Encourage your child to do the same.
- Watch to see if your child makes eye contact with you when reading. This is a sign they are paying attention to you and the story.
- Talk with your child throughout the day about things you are doing and the happening around you.
- Be patient while your child wants to read the same book over and over.
- Encourage your child to pick books up and look through them.
- Give your child paper and crayons so he can scribble, make pictures, and pretend to write.
